Apply now Work type: CE - Clinician Educator
Location: Stanford University
Categories: School of Medicine

The Division of Child Neurology in the Department of Neurology at Stanford University seeks a board-certified or board-eligible pediatric epileptologist to join the Department as a Clinical Assistant Professor in the Clinician Educator Line.

The major criterion for appointment in the Clinician Educator Line is excellence in the overall mix of clinical care, teaching, administrative and/or scholarship appropriate to the programmatic need the individual is expected to fulfill.

The successful applicant should have an MD, DO, or equivalent degree; ABPN special qualification (eligible or certified) in child neurology; ABPN epilepsy certification or eligibility; interest and expertise in pediatric epilepsy diagnosis and management in both the inpatient and outpatient setting; and proficiency in interpretation of routine pediatric EEG, neonatal EEG, ICU EEG, video EEG for presurgical evaluations and spell characterizations, and intracranial SEEG. Furthermore, applicants should also demonstrate commitment to teaching students, residents and fellows. Candidates must also have excellent communication skills and an ability to work collaboratively with other departments and disciplines.

Although we are interested in candidates with broad expertise across the spectrum of pediatric epilepsy, subspecialization within pediatric epilepsy is encouraged.

Responsibilities are expected to include outpatient epilepsy clinics; inpatient attending at the Epilepsy Monitoring Unit (including implanted SEEG electrodes, electrocorticography, and functional cortical mapping); shared inpatient and outpatient EEG interpretation responsibilities; attendance and participation at recurring Epilepsy Surgery multi-disciplinary patient care and teaching conferences; and teaching Child Neurology residents and Pediatric Epilepsy Fellows about epilepsy and EEG. Collaborative development of clinical research projects and presentation or publication of scholarly work will be encouraged. The physician will see patients primarily in our children’s hospital and outpatient clinics (both main campus site in Palo Alto, as well as satellite clinic sites). Specific breakdown of time at each clinical site is negotiable.

Applications will be reviewed beginning in Sept 2023 and accepted until position is filled.
