The Department of Neurosurgery at Stanford University School of Medicine is recruiting for a one-year Clinical Instructor position in neurosurgical trauma and spinal surgery, starting Jul 1, 2023. We are particularly interested in candidates who have experience in neurosurgical trauma and spinal surgery.
The major criterion for appointment as Clinician Educators is excellence in the overall mix of clinical care, teaching, administrative, and/or scholarship appropriate to the programmatic need the individual is expected to fulfill. Academic rank and line will be determined by the qualifications and experience of the successful candidate.
The successful applicant is required to have an M.D. degree and obtain medical licensure within the State of California.
Responsibilities will include the surgical and medical care of inpatients and outpatients at Santa Clara Valley Medical Center (SCVMC), a teaching affiliate of Stanford University School of Medicine. The primary clinical assignment will be at SCVMC in San Jose, California, which is a busy Level-1 trauma center.
The appointment consists of extensive exposure to the surgical treatment of cranial and spinal trauma, as well as minimally invasive and complex spinal surgery. There will be ample opportunities for clinical research through well-established institutional trauma registries. Spinal training includes state-of-the-art image guidance systems, intraoperative CT, and 3D fluoroscopy. The Clinical Instructor will participate in weekly clinical conferences at Stanford and be involved with resident training.
Full-time faculty within the program include Drs. Harminder Singh, Marco Lee, and Tene Cage.
This position is for a one-year fixed term.
Applications will be reviewed beginning Jan 20th, 2023, and accepted until the position is filled.
The Neurosurgery Department, School of Medicine, and Stanford University value faculty who are committed to advancing diversity, equity, and inclusion. Candidates may optionally include as part of their research or teaching statement a brief discussion of how their work will further these ideals.
