Open Faculty Positions

The Department of Medicine/Division of Infectious Diseases and Geographic Medicine at Stanford Medicine is recruiting a faculty at the Assistant Professor/Associate Professor levels to contribute to the research, clinical, and educational activities of the Division. Candidates with research programs in all areas of Infectious Diseases will be considered, including those with clinical and bench-based research programs. We are especially interested in applicants whose research programs focus on Clinical Trials, Global Health, Population Health/Big Data, and Outcomes Research. The faculty positions will be in the University Tenure Line or University Medical Line. The predominant criterion for appointment in the University Tenure Line is a major commitment to research and teaching. The predominant criterion for appointment in the University Medical Line is excellence in the overall mix of clinical care, clinical teaching, scholarly activity that advances clinical medicine, and institutional service appropriate to the programmatic need the individual is expected to fulfill. Faculty rank and line will be determined by the qualification and experience of the successful candidate.

The successful applicants should have MD, MD/PhD or PhD degree and demonstrable record of scholarly achievement including the ability to conduct team science by collaborating productively with other investigators and clinicians. The candidate must possess or be able to obtain a California medical license at the time of appointment for those who are physician scientist. As a physician-scientist, the candidate is expected to have potential (assistant professor rank) or demonstrated excellence in patient care. Board eligibility or certification in infectious diseases is strongly preferred for appointment in the UML, however exceptional physician scientist candidates with research programs relevant to Infectious Diseases without Infectious Diseases clinical training will be considered for appointment in the UTL. Recruits in the UTL line will be expected to develop a laboratory-based investigative program at Stanford. The ability to obtain grant funding (assistant professor rank) or prior success competing for competitive research awards, publication record appropriate at the stage of career, and programmatic synergy with members of the Division are highly desirable.

University Medical Line (with clinical activities)
Assistant Professor: 274,000 - 286,000
Associate Professor: 294,000 - 307,000

University Tenure Line (without clinical activities)
Assistant Professor: $204,000 - $222,000
Associate Professor: $237,000 - $261,000

This pay range reflects base pay, which is based on faculty rank and years in rank. It does not include all components of the School of Medicine’s faculty compensation program or pay from participation in departmental incentive compensation programs.
