The Division of Neonatal and Developmental Medicine in the Department of Pediatrics at Stanford University School of Medicine/Stanford Medicine Children’s Health is seeking an academic neonatologist to join our team. The successful candidate will be appointed as a Clinical Assistant Professor, Clinical Associate Professor, or Clinical Professor in the Clinician Educator line. The major criterion for appointment as Clinician Educators is excellence in the overall mix of clinical care, teaching, administrative and/or scholarship appropriate to the programmatic need the individual is expected to fulfill. 

Academic rank will be determined by the qualifications and experience of the successful candidate. 

This faculty position will include serving as attending neonatologist at the Dominican Hospital NICU in Santa Cruz, California. The Dominican NICU is a world class, Stanford affiliated, Community Level III NICU that provides high level neonatal intensive care services to the California central coast region of Santa Cruz and northern Monterey counties. Dominican Hospital has an average of 900 deliveries per year, including high risk perinatal obstetric services. Our Stanford neonatology team at Dominican also provides neonatal referral, consultation, and transport services to sick neonates from the nearby Sutter Maternity and Surgery center, and from Watsonville Community hospital, combining for an additional 2000 deliveries each year.

The Dominican Level III NICU collaborates closely with the Lucile Packard Children’s Hospital Stanford Level IV NICU and the Johnson Center Fetal and Pregnancy Health Program at Stanford. The Dominican NICU provides exceptionally high-quality Level III critical care, and patients requiring surgery, ECMO, or more complex tertiary care are stabilized for transport. Many patients return to the Dominican NICU prior to discharge. The Stanford faculty at Dominican also participate in staff education, NICU policy and procedure updates, and Perinatal Morbidity and Mortality conferences.

Requirements for this position include: 

  • Eligibility for a medical license in the state of California.
  • Board certification or board eligibility in neonatal-perinatal medicine.
  • Experience working in clinical settings with critically ill, premature neonates including proficiency with related procedures.

The expected base pay range for this position is: 

Clinical Assistant Professor: $287,000 - 299,000
Clinical Associate Professor: $329,000 - 342,000
Clinical Professor: $380,000 - 401,000 

 

This pay range reflects base pay, which is based on faculty rank and years in rank. It does not include all components of the School of Medicine’s faculty compensation program or pay from participation in departmental incentive compensation programs. Stanford University has provided a pay range representing its good faith estimate of what the university reasonably expects to pay for the position.
