The Department of Medicine at the Stanford University School of Medicine is recruiting a Division Chief of Hematology for an academic appointment as Associate or Professor of Medicine (Hematology) in the University Medical Line or University Tenure Line at Stanford University School of Medicine. The Chief is expected to lead the research, clinical and educational activities of the Division. We are seeking a candidate who combines proven leadership skills with an outstanding record of academic accomplishment; dedication to excellence in the clinical, research and educational missions; an understanding of the complexity of academic medicine; and the creative vision to develop a premier Division of Hematology. Established and emerging leaders in the field of malignant or benign hematology are highly encouraged to apply. Candidates should be accomplished physician investigators with a national/ international reputation. Candidates should hold a MD or MD/PhD degrees, and be Board Certified in Hematology. The Chief will be expected to recruit additional faculty to support both laboratory and clinical research, and to expand the clinical enterprise. The Chief is also expected to strengthen the fellowship program, and to increase its focus on the research opportunities so prevalent at Stanford. The Chief is expected to collaborate closely with the Division of Blood and Marrow Transplantation and Cellular Therapy and the Division of Oncology.
The predominant criterion for appointment in the University Tenure Line is a major commitment to research and teaching. The major criteria for appointment for faculty in the University Medical Line shall be excellence in the overall mix of clinical care, clinical teaching, scholarly activity that advances clinical medicine, and institutional service appropriate to the programmatic need the individual is expected to fulfill. Faculty rank will be determined by the qualifications and experience of the successful candidate.
