The Division of Pediatric Gastroenterology, Hepatology, and Nutrition in the Department of Pediatrics at Stanford University seeks a pediatric gastroenterologist with expertise in neurogastroenterology and motility.  The successful candidate will be appointed at the Clinical Assistant Professor, Clinical Associate Professor, or Clinical Professor rank in the Clinician Educator line. The major criterion for appointment, reappointment, and promotion for Clinician Educators is excellence in a combination of clinical care, teaching, and scholarly activity that advances clinical medicine.

Academic rank will be determined by the qualifications and experience of the successful candidate.

Our comprehensive motility program offers a full breadth of services, including esophageal, antroduodenal, and colorectal manometry, pH-Multichannel Intraluminal Impedance monitoring, Endoluminal Functional Lumen Imaging Probe (EndoFLIP) and Percutaneous Electrical Nerve Field Stimulation (PENFS).

This position includes a significant and exciting opportunity for program development in novel therapies. Building on our experience with PENFS, the candidate will have the option to help develop and expand a clinical neurostimulation program. This may include exploring and implementing additional modalities such as gastric electrical stimulation and sacral nerve stimulation. Program development would be a collaborative effort with the current motility medical director, division leadership, and multidisciplinary partners. The specific modalities, scope of responsibilities, and dedicated resources will be tailored based on the candidate's expertise, interests, and institutional priorities.

Responsibilities:

The successful candidate will contribute to clinical care, education, and academic advancement. Key responsibilities include:

  • Providing outstanding clinical care for outpatients and inpatients with disorders of neurogastroenterology and motility.
  • Performing and interpreting a wide range of gastrointestinal motility studies.
  • Performing general pediatric gastroenterology procedures.
  • Participating in the teaching and supervision of medical students, residents, and pediatric gastroenterology fellows.
  • Engaging in academic pursuits appropriate to their career stage and academic rank, which may include clinical innovation, research, education, or quality improvement initiatives.
  • Contributing to the programmatic growth of the Neurogastroenterology and Motility program.

Qualifications:

  • M.D., D.O., M.D./Ph.D., or equivalent degree.
  • Board certified or board eligible in Pediatric Gastroenterology.
  • Completion of advanced fellowship training in pediatric neurogastroenterology and motility, or equivalent substantial clinical experience in the field.
  • Prior experience in neurostimulation is welcomed but not required.
