Open Faculty Positions

Stanford University seeks an expert in international security affairs to be appointed as Senior Fellow in the Freeman Spogli Institute for International Studies at the Center for International Security and Cooperation (CISAC). Faculty from the social sciences are particularly encouraged to apply.

Senior Fellows at Stanford University are full members of the Academic Council, with a rank equivalent to tenured associate or full professor.

The successful candidate for this position will be an internationally recognized scholar with an interest and expertise in contemporary threats and challenges in the domain of international security affairs. They may well have other significant interests and expertise as well that would add to Stanford’s faculty community working on a variety of security issues. In addition, they may also have a record of policy relevant publication, teaching, or public service.

Applicants should possess an exceptional record of research and publication and be committed to teaching at the undergraduate and graduate levels and training pre- and post-doctoral fellows at CISAC to become the next generation of scholars on international security policy. Applicants might also have substantial interest or proven expertise in making, advising or implementing national or international security policy. The successful candidates will be expected to provide leadership for the study of international security issues at Stanford University.

The expected base pay range for this position is:

Senior Fellow: $186,000 - $285,000

Stanford University has provided a pay range representing its good faith estimate of what the university reasonably expects to pay for the position upon hire. The pay offered to the selected candidate will be determined based on factors including (but not limited to) the experience and qualifications of the selected candidate including years since terminal degree, training, and field or discipline; departmental budget availability; internal equity; and external market pay for comparable jobs.
