Open Faculty Positions

The Department of Dermatology at Stanford University seeks a board-eligible or board-certified dermatologist to join the Department as Assistant Professor in the University Medical Line (UML). We are particularly interested in candidates who are driving innovative research that addresses critical patient-centered issues in inflammatory or autoimmune diseases in dermatology.  

The major criteria for appointment for faculty in the University Medical Line shall be excellence in the overall mix of clinical care, clinical teaching, scholarly activity that advances clinical medicine, and institutional service appropriate to the programmatic need the individual is expected to fulfill.

Specific/Supplementary Criteria for Assistant Professors:

Individuals appointed as Assistant Professors will have completed their house staff training and, where appropriate, postdoctoral fellowship training.  They must demonstrate excellence or promise of excellence in the overall mix of contributions in clinical care, teaching and scholarly activity that advances clinical medicine appropriate to the programmatic need upon which the appointment will be based.  There should be evidence that candidates have the promise to attain regional recognition for excellence in the overall mix of contributions.   If these individuals have not had formal teaching experience, they should have demonstrated during their house staff and fellowship training a commitment to teaching, and they should have the potential to meet or exceed acceptable standards in teaching.

The initial term of appointment will generally be for four years.

The successful applicant should have a Doctor of Medicine (M.D.) degree from an accredited institution, board certification or eligibility in dermatology, and a valid medical license to practice. The candidate should demonstrate expertise in medical dermatology with a focus in inflammatory or autoimmune skin diseases and innovative patient-oriented research; experience in translational research and interest in interdisciplinary collaborations are highly encouraged. Strong potential to publish in peer-reviewed journals is essential. Grant funding is encouraged in the interest of establishing regional or national recognition. Teaching experience in a clinical or academic setting is preferred.

We expect the successful candidate to play a key role in advancing translational research that tackles critical patient-centered issues in dermatology, contributing to the department's research profile. The candidate will foster impactful research initiatives and interdisciplinary collaborations that prioritize patient outcomes while supporting the department's educational mission through the development of specialty programs and advanced teaching methodologies for medical students and residents. Additionally, the candidate is expected to actively engage with professional societies and organizations, promoting collaboration and advocacy within the dermatology field and participating in national and regional conferences to stay up-to-date with emerging trends and best practices in patient care and research.

The expected base pay range for this position is $185,000 - $203,000.

This pay range reflects base pay, which is based on faculty rank and years in rank. It does not include all components of the School of Medicine’s faculty compensation program or pay from participation in departmental incentive compensation programs.
