The Department of Chemical Engineering at Stanford University invites applications for a university tenure-track (UTL) faculty position at the junior level (Assistant or untenured Associate Professor).

We will consider applicants knowledgeable in the general area of Chemical Engineering. While we give the highest priority to the overall originality and promise of the candidate's work, particular areas of interest in this search include:

  • Advanced Manufacturing Techniques

  • Advanced  Materials and Processing 

  • Artificial Intelligence in Chemical Engineering

  • Atmospheric and Environmental Studies

  • Energy Storage and Conversion Technologies

  • Fluid Mechanics and Transport Phenomena

  • Sustainable Separation Materials and Processes

Applicants must have completed, or be completing, a Ph.D. in the advertised field or a closely related one. The successful candidate will be expected to teach both graduate and undergraduate courses, develop advanced graduate courses in their research specialty, and establish a world-class research program focused on the fundamental aspects of chemical engineering science.      

Potential collaborations may be found with various departments within the School of Engineering, the School of Humanities and Sciences, the Doerr School of Sustainability, and the School of Medicine. Furthermore, the successful candidate may engage with the Stanford Synchrotron Radiation Laboratory and the National Accelerator Laboratory.

    - In this statement, candidates should detail their accomplishments and outline specific planned research projects and courses they wish to teach in the Chemical Engineering Department, School of Engineering, and Stanford University.

The expected base pay range for this position is:

  • Assistant Professor: $144,100- $163,766 
  • Associate Professor (untenured): $158,510 - $196,803

This base pay range is for a nine-month academic appointment and does not include summer salary. For more information about compensation and our wide range of benefits, including housing assistance, please contact the hiring department. The pay offered to the selected candidate will be determined based on factors including (but not limited to) the experience and qualifications of the selected candidate, including years since terminal degree, training, and field or discipline; departmental budget availability; internal equity; and external market pay for comparable jobs.
