The Division of Cardiology in the Department of Pediatrics at Stanford University School of Medicine/ Stanford Medicine Children’s Health is recruiting a Clinician Educator as a Clinical Assistant Professor, Clinical Associate Professor, or Clinical Professor. The major criterion for appointment as Clinician Educators is excellence in the overall mix of clinical care, teaching, administrative and/or scholarship appropriate to the programmatic need the individual is expected to fulfill.
Academic rank and line will be determined by the qualifications and experience of the successful candidate.
We are specifically interested in candidates with expertise in pediatric heart failure and heart transplantation, as well as longitudinal care of the patient with univentricular heart.
We expect the successful candidate to serve as a member of the Pediatric Advanced Cardiac Therapies team at Lucile Packard Children’s Hospital (LPCH), with responsibilities for clinical care, teaching, and academic program development in the fields of heart failure and heart transplantation. The PACT program provides comprehensive care to children with all stages of heart failure. We perform approximately 25 heart transplants and 15 VAD implants annually, with a complex mix of patients. Outcomes in the PACT program are outstanding. There are currently 8 cardiology faculty in the PACT program, which is directed by David Rosenthal, MD.
The ideal candidate will have expertise in pediatric heart failure and if interested there is an opportunity to be appointed as the Medical Director of the Single Ventricle Program and will have outpatient and consultative clinical responsibilities in this program. This directorship is an endowed position at LPCH, and the individual will become the Endowed Medical Director of the Comprehensive Single Ventricle Program. The medical directorship of the Moore Heart Center’s Single Ventricle Home Monitoring Program is included within the role as Medical Director of the SVP. In these roles, the individual will be partnering with the Executive Administrative Director of the Moore Children’s Heart Center to direct all components of the Comprehensive Single Ventricle Program, including its staff and resources.
They will join a nationally recognized group of pediatric cardiologists who provide clinical care and perform research within a multidisciplinary cardiovascular program, The Children’s Heart Center, at LPCH. The Children’s Heart Center at Packard has grown dramatically over the past ten years and is currently ranked in the top five pediatric heart and heart surgery programs nationally by U.S. News and World Report. Extensive opportunities exist for prospective clinical and translational research through collaborations with outstanding investigators in the School of Medicine (Departments of Pediatrics, Medicine, Radiology and Health Research and Policy), School of Engineering, the Stanford Program in Bio-X, and the Stanford Cardiovascular Institute.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Outpatient clinics in heart failure and transplantation, including attending in the clinic and covering telephone consults and questions in conjunction with the NP staff.
- Inpatient responsibilities including covering the PACT service in the ACCU and CVICU units, with weekend and overnight call.
- Outreach clinics in heart failure and transplantation.
- Supervision and clinical support of advanced practitioners in heart failure, VAD and transplantation.
- Outpatient care in the Comprehensive Single Ventricle Program.
- Supervision of providers in the Comprehensive Single Ventricle Program and overall program direction.
The successful applicant must have a medical degree (MD) or equivalent. Candidates should have clinical training in Pediatrics and Pediatric Cardiology (completed fellowship and be board eligible/certified).

Clinical Assistant: $282,000 - $300,000
Clinical Associate: $324,000 - $342,000
Clinical Professor: $392,000 - $422,000
This pay range reflects base pay, which is based on faculty rank and years in rank. It does not include all components of the School of Medicine’s faculty compensation program or pay from participation in departmental incentive compensation programs.
