Assistant Professor in Integrative/Organismal Biology

The Department of Biology at Stanford University is searching for a tenure-track Assistant Professor working broadly in the field of integrative/organismal biology. A successful candidate would ask fundamental questions related to building or maintaining an organism through mechanisms that span cellular interactions, physiological control of homeostasis, and interactions between organisms and their environments. Topics might include physiology, development, or behavior. The essential element of the candidate’s research is that it involves questions in the context of the whole organism. We are particularly interested in candidates whose work is interdisciplinary, integrates across biological levels, considers interactions within and between organisms and with the environment, or is explicitly comparative. The successful candidate will be a member of the Cell, Molecular, and Organismal group within the Biology Department and be based either at main campus or at Hopkins Marine Station. Applicants should have an earned Ph.D.

Applicants should submit:  (1) a statement (not to exceed 3 pages) that describes the applicant’s (a) prior and current research and their vision and plans for future research, and (b) teaching and mentorship philosophy, approach, and experience; (2) a statement (not to exceed 1 page) that describes the applicant’s commitment to and experience in promoting diversity, equity, and justice; (3) a cover letter; (4) a curriculum vitae including publication list; and (5) three letters of recommendation.

Interested candidates should apply by September 30, 2022, for full consideration,  The appointment will begin September 1, 2023.
