The Department of Anesthesiology, Perioperative and Pain Medicine at Stanford University seeks highly motivated individuals who have completed training in anesthesiology to join the Department as an Assistant, Associate or Full Professor in the University Medical Line or Clinician Educator Line. Academic line and rank will be determined by the qualifications and experience of the successful candidate.  In addition to those with general training, the Department is interested in individuals with training and experience in:

                                           Cardiac Anesthesia                    OB Anesthesia

                                           Pediatric Anesthesia                  Pain Management

                                           Critical Care Medicine              Regional Anesthesia

Anesthesia-Related Research

The major criteria for appointment for faculty in the University Medical Line shall be excellence in the overall mix of clinical care, clinical teaching, scholarly activity that advances clinical medicine, and institutional service appropriate to the programmatic need the individual is expected to fulfill. The Department is particularly interested in highly qualified individuals interested in building leading edge basic, clinical or data-driven research programs.

The major criterion for appointment as Clinician Educators is excellence in the overall mix of clinical care, teaching, administrative and/or scholarship appropriate to the programmatic need the individual is expected to fulfill. For this line the department seeks individuals with strong commitments to advancing clinical care, developing innovative approaches to teaching and enhancing healthcare delivery.

Academic rank and line will be determined by the qualifications and experience of the successful candidate.

The successful candidates must have an MD, DO or foreign equivalent, be Board Certified or Board eligible and eligible for a California medical license or exemption.  The successful applicants will spend a portion of time in clinical anesthesia.

The expected base pay range for this position is:

Assistant Professor $401,000 - $411,000

Associate Professor $423,000 - $433,000

Professor $444,000-$465,000

This pay range reflects base pay, which is based on faculty rank and years in rank. It may not include all components of faculty compensation or pay from participation in departmental incentive compensation programs.
