Chief of Pediatric Pain Management

The Department of Anesthesiology, Perioperative and Pain Medicine at Stanford University seeks an MD/DO, board certified or equivalent anesthesiologist and eligible for a California license or exemption to join the Department as Chief of Pediatric Pain Management at Stanford Children’s Health.

Pediatric Pain Management at Stanford Children’s Health is a leading program drawing local, national and international referrals.  This team of physicians, psychologists, nurse practitioners and other dedicated staff care for patients in Lucile Packard Children’s Hospital and in a multidisciplinary outpatient clinic. These offerings are complemented by an innovative outpatient residential pain program providing multidimensional pain therapy and rehabilitation. Strong research and educational programs are well-integrated into clinical care efforts.

The successful applicant should have a record of leadership and accomplishment relevant to the field of Pediatric Pain Management. We expect the successful candidate to continue building the academic program surrounding Pediatric Pain Management and to collaborate with other departments in the Medical School and Stanford at large. The successful applicant will spend all or a portion of their time in clinical Pediatric Pain Management. We are particularly interested in candidates who have board certification or equivalent in anesthesiology with subspecialty training in pediatric anesthesiology and/or pain management.

Academic rank and appointment line will be determined by the qualifications and experience of the successful candidate, with appointment as Associate Professor or Professor in the University Medical Line, or the Clinician Educator Line.

  • The major criteria for appointment for faculty in the University Medical Line shall be excellence in the overall mix of clinical care, clinical teaching, and scholarly activity that advances clinical medicine and institutional service appropriate to the programmatic need the individual is expected to fulfill.
  • The major criteria for appointment in the Clinician Educator Line shall be excellence in the overall mix of clinical care, teaching, administrative and/or scholarship appropriate to the programmatic need the individual is expected to fulfill.
